Velkommen to The Danish Villages!

The Danish Villages of Elk Horn and Kimballton, Iowa is the largest rural Danish settlement in the United States. The Villages boast an authentic Danish Windmill, The Museum of Danish America, and a sculpture of The Little Mermaid.

The Mission of the Danish Villages Improvement Organization:

Inspire growth in the Danish Villages through social connection, economic development and community promotion.

Elk Horn is the host to the only authentic, operating Danish windmill in the United States. The mill was purchased from Norre Snede, Denmark, shipped and reconstructed in 1976 with the help of over 300 volunteers. In the 40 years that the Danish Villages have enjoyed the mill, it has become one of the most popular and successful tourist attractions in Iowa.

The 43nd annual Tivoli Fest takes place Memorial Day weekend, May 26 & 27.  The celebration includes the annual Tivoli Fest parade, Official Iowa Craft Beer tent, multiple entertainment stages, fireworks and craft vendors.
